info
An interactive installation that brings ocean bioluminescence to life through motion-responsive light. Step into a darkened space where your presence triggers waves of luminous color beneath your feet – a digital recreation of the way plankton glow when disturbed in the water.
Context
The work premiered at the Ocean Decade – I National Crypto Art Exhibition at Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil in Rio de Janeiro (November 2023 – February 2024), alongside 26 other artists exploring themes of ocean preservation and sustainability. Visitors of all ages moved through the space instinctively – dancing, running, testing the boundaries of interaction. The installation proved what we believe: that technology, when done right, invites play and wonder without requiring explanation. Since then, Maré de Luz has been presented at multiple venues, adapting to different contexts while maintaining its core interactive experience.
Every installation starts with a poetic idea. But when you walk through the experience and light follows your movement, that’s also engineering: sensors, real-time graphics, infrastructure that runs reliably for months. This only happens with a team. Tekne makes the technology disappear so the experience feels effortless.

In 2024, Maré de Luz was adapted for a container installation as part of SESC Verão on the coast of Rio de Janeiro state. The container format allowed the experience to reach a beach community of Barra de São João.
